These are all amazing quotes, but there is a one I find the most apt for this topic: “To do big data well, you need text analytics skills.” This is so much true. You just cannot dive into the “big data business” without having knowledge of text analysis and being able to analyze a problem from different perspectives. Thanks for sharing these quotes with us, Chris.

Hi, Michal. Text analytics are certainly a segment of the market that is poised to explode, as brands are starting to realize how much they need it — for internal and external data. Thank you for your thought.

I especially like the quote about requiring humans as a necessary part of sentiment analysis. Can you tell me who originally said it, their job title and their employer? I want to post it but want to make sure I give credit where credit’s due! Thanks!

Thinking back to the conference, I believe that was more of a common point of view among the attendees at the conference. I don’t remember who may have started the thread — but I would that everyone in attendance agreed, and maybe restated it in their own way — perhaps a few times during the day. Rather than quoting one person, you might instead describe it a consensus among the text analytics professionals in attendance that day. How’s that?
